Crazy Frog, known as The Annoying Thing, is the newest and the hottest character to hit the airwaves all over the world. He starterted off as a 3D animation in October 2003, created by Swede Erik Wernquist to accompany the ‘ding ding’ sound originally produced by Swede Daniel Malmedahl way back in 1997. In 2004, German-based Jamba group (Jamster) licensed the character, as well as the sound, for distribution as a mobile phone ringtone. The Crazy Frog ringtone became extremely popular, consequently spawning a niche in the music industry. His first single, Axel F, was released on May 23, 2005, which earned for itself the number one spot in the UK Singles Chart. It also shot to the top spot in 19 other countries, winning over 30 silver, gold and platinum discs. A second single, Popcorn, was released on August 22, 2005, which enjoyed immense airplay in various parts of the globe. At the same time, his album Crazy Hits was released in August 2005.

Among Crazy Frog’s supporting cast (which were also included in his video) are Lampi, the Bat, Mr. Chaos, Koola Bear, Party Bee, Sweety the Chick, Nessie the Dragon and Brown Bear. Controversial as he is, Crazy Frog has become a household name among kids, pre-teens and several music enthusiasts. Now, Crazy Frog is also widely licensed and featured in a variety of other products such as apparels, video games, singing plush dolls, board games, desktop nodders, key rings, bags, lunch boxes, air fresheners, badges, magnets, stationery products, greeting cards, gift wraps, books, ballons, cakes, towels, hats, clocks, fashion accessories, and even a swivel chair.
